Reason: Maintenance urgently required
The Trust negotiated fundraising and oversaw maintenance work. This involved contacting the County Council (as owners), the SMDC (as a possible source of grants) and each of the parish councils who all contributed to the funding. This was sufficient to allow them to be cleaned of loose paint, treated with hammerite, and painted. In the course of this a milepost that had been removed was traced to its current holder and replaced, and one which had been badly damaged by vehicles at a busy road junction was recast and replaced.
